The Novelty Knit

Next on Belk's list of Most Wanted Spring 2013 items is the novelty knit. And this is where I want to interject: I LOVE PONTE (pon-tee) knit. Ponte knit is a tightly woven combination of Polyester, Spandex and Rayon. It has all of the stretch and comfort of a knit but it is thicker and therefore does not ball up or fade. It's a bit like polyester but it looks very classic and refined. It's machine washable AND it's affordable. In short, it's fantastic! So even if you don't care what is on trend this spring, try a ponte knit. Trust me, you will love it too!

MICHAEL KORS Printed Ankle Pant - $110.00

Who wears fancy pants? We wear fancy pants! That was cheesy I admit, but so fitting for this coveted spring favorite - fancy pants. I honest to goodness can't remember ever wearing a printed pant that wasn't asymmetrical (think houndstooth or herringbone). Until now. I bought a pair of Jessica Simpson (from Belk!) paisley pants this past summer and wore them on our trip to Mexico. One of the customs guys told me he loved them! In front of my husband! It was bizarre. So don't turn your nose up at this 6th item on the list for Spring's most wanted. You might just turn a head or two :).

Belk's Most Wanted for Spring 2013 includes a "sassy skirt". And since lace is predicted to be one of the hottest textures for Spring/Summer 2013, their top pick is a lace circle skirt. You will find lace in several forms, including eyelet, laser cuts, or crochet. 

Don't like lace? That's ok, just be sure you incorporate skirts, any skirts - flouncy, long, pencil, mini etc. - into your daily wardrobe this year. Try ones with color blocking, stripes, uneven hemlines, maxi length, brightly colored, polka-dotted, floral, tweed, fringe or snakeskin print (a very must-have this year). But don't stop there! Vince Camuto Statement Necklace- $148.00

Next on Belk's Top Ten Most Wanted for Spring 2013 is the statement neck. We saw necklaces and scarves time and time again last year and Spring 2013 is no different.

One of the newest ways to wear a necklace right now is to layer it over a collared blouse that is buttoned up to the very top (pic #1 below).  I even like to add two necklaces sometimes (pic #2 below). If you have a sweater on over a blouse, add a fun, chunky necklace to the ensemble. Or try wearing a tie blouse and let the bow spill out over a sweater or crew neck tee (pic #3 below). The same goes for scarves and snoogs. Layer fun, yet warm, scarves over your winter clothes for a chic, fashionable outfit (pics #4 below).

As I continue reviewing my blog entries from 2012, I keep finding more outfits that are must-repeats. This one caught my eye because I went to the Belk "Spring Fashion Preview" today to get the scoop on what's hot for Spring 2013. On their list was pops of color and aqua, among others. I think this outfit sums it up, don't you? What a relief it is to know that I can upcycle my 2012 pieces into 2013!
