Orange you glad it's summer?

I love summer. Yeah, I know, it's been in the 100's here with at least 3 more days of crazy hot temps expected. But summer is...hanging by the pool, going to the beach, not having to wear a coat (very important to me), cookouts, fireworks, kids in camp, no homework to help the kids with (yep, I'm selfish like that), and having an excuse to go to the mall more often (b/c it's hot you know). 

(Sigh) summer is great.

Do you like the summer? Or do you long for winter days filled with layers, sweaters, coats and heavy boots? Not me, but hey, if that's your thing, so be it. LOL!

Black is Back

Have you noticed that black, what was once a dominant color in fashion, has been missing for quite a while? I kind of missed it because it is slimming and goes with everything. Plus, you could just buy one black purse and carry it with any outfit. But for about 5 or 6 years now, black has taken a back seat to nudes, browns, and colors. This fall, black is back!

Are you happy that black is back? I am happy that I hung onto one black purse (b/c I only had one after all. Ha!).

It's Red Hot

Today we are featuring the beaded tee from the Williamson Source  Shopper Moms video.  We truly only suggest things that we would put in our own wardrobes.  The fabric for this tee is very light weight for these scorching days of summer.   We paired it with one of the hottest trends for spring and summer, colored jeans.  Be on the lookout for more red as we move into the fall.

Pinking About It...

I have thought about it and declare: THIS IS AS FAR AS I AM GOING WITH THE NEON TREND. I did it in the 80's and really have no desire to do it again.

So I figured a bright pink would be nearly as good as actually wearing neon, right? What do you think? Will you wear neon or will you sit on the edge like me and just get a really bright shirt?

Summer is Officially Here

A couple of days ago summer officially started and for most this means travel time. Whether you are visiting family or going somewhere fun, the task of packing the right clothing without loading down your suitcase is often a dreaded chore.  And since most moms are appointed with this chore for everyone in the family, we often end up with very little space for our own wardrobe. A Hint of Spearmint

One of the trends this summer has been the open weave sweater. Because they are so lightly woven, the sweater is feather-light, making it a great laying option to give your outfit more dimension. Today I layered a basic tank in spearmint under the sweater and pulled the combination together with a spearmint colored necklace. I paired it with a denim pencil skirt and a casual bag and shoes to keep it all carefree.

I have had so much fun mixing prints this season. It allows me to wear older pieces from my wardrobe in new and fun ways. Needless to say though, the sweater didn't stay on past lunchtime. As I am sure you will agree, looking cute isn't quite as important when it's 95 degrees out!

So what was once a cute outfit turned into cute shorts with a boring white T. Sometimes you gotta be boring to be cool, they say. Well, I said that anyway.

A Belted Sheath

Did you know that JC Penney sells a line from MANGO called MNG by MANGO? It's wonderful! They have all the latest trends just like the regular MANGO at an even more affordable price point. Check out this sheath dress I bought for only $30. The royal blue is on trend and the stripes in the sash provide the pattern mix that everyone is wearing right now. And the quality and feel of the fabric rocks! Paired with my coral slingbacks and a structured purse, I am ready for anything.

The Future is White

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. My kids did a fantastic job planning a wonderful Father's Day for my hubby. They made a video, a cookie cake and hand-made cards. It was so sweet!

Today, I am sporting white on white. Have you noticed that trend? I love white so this is one trend I can sink my teeth into (or my arms and legs). I love neutrals as well and thought the neutrals from the gold shimmer tank, cross-body bag and sandals really made the white jeans and jacket look sophisticated and elegant. And of course, red toes! Who doesn't like red toes?

I Heart U!

Have you noticed all the summer sweaters that are popping up in stores and online? Living in the South, sweaters are not something you even think about wearing in the summer. But they are all so cute that I decided to try one and you know what?  They ain't so bad! This navy sweetheart sweater by J. Crew isn't hot and heavy. The linen-cotton blend is both lightweight and breathable and of course, too adorable to pass up! The white and navy striped skirt is actually a short-sleeved dress so if I get too hot I can whip off the sweater and cool off a bit.

This week has been run, run, run! And when you have week like that, it's hard to find the time to get dressed up in anything other than shorts and a t-shirt. That's why I love these shorts from Jessica Simpson. They have a feminine scalloped edge with hints of silver woven throughout. When paired with a rhinestone studded tee from J. Crew, my thrown-on outfit looks like I actually paid attention!

Not So Limited

 

I don't shop at The Limited anymore. Not only because I used to live near a mall that did not have one, but because I don't have a need for business suits anymore. I now live near a mall that has a store. 

Long story short, I was at the mall (imagine that!) and decided to pop in The Limited because I was looking for something specific that I hadn't found anywhere else. Once in there, the sales person told me that all of their sale items were an extra 40% off. Hmm...you never know when you will find a deal so I took a look. And this dress, my friends, is what I found for only $20!!!

I love it! Do you? Will you stop by The Limited anytime soon?

Tie Dye and Khakis
